Gordon joined Jensen Hughes (formarly JGA) in 1999 after 12 years in applied research at the Building Research Establishment. He specialised in research into fire growth and smoke movement with the BRE Fire Research Station and is co-author of the BRE guide to smoke control, BR 368.
As a Consultant, Gordon has an overview of a large number of projects in the UK and overseas. These cover the full range of building types, including office buildings, airports, shopping centres, healthcare, residential, industrial and pharmaceutical buildings. His expertise in developing fire engineering solutions for large or complex buildings has been applied to a number of large scale, mixed use city centre regeneration projects throughout the UK. He has also worked on JH's international projects in Africa, Europe and the Middle East, both as Project Director and in developing technical solutions to fire engineering problems.
